UNESCO Webinar: Legal Threats to Freedom of Expression

Beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice have the opportunity to participate in the webinar organized by UNESCO on preventing and combating strategic legal actions against public mobilization, especially against journalists, through the SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) phenomenon. The abusive use of actions in court, with severe financial and moral consequences, to intimidate the press, is a very topical subject and a phenomenon that is also addressed by European legislation - the Anti-SLAPP Directive.

The webinar is free and will take place on June 30, 2025, in English (REGISTRATION LINK). Information regarding participation will be sent by the organizers by e-mail.

UNESCO also invites judges, prosecutors, lawyers and other professionals within the judicial system to contribute to research on how legal threats affect freedom of expression by completing an electronic questionnaire at THIS LINK.
