The study visit of the INJ delegation to relevant institutions in the Republic of Turkey
Between June 24-27, 2024, in the context of the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, representatives of the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova were on a study visit to Ankara. The delegation included Adrian Cerbu, Interim Director, Ghenadie Mîra, Interim President of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, member of the INJ Council, Ecaterina Popa, Head of the Training and Research Directorate, Olga Marandici, Head of the International Relations Section, and Mihail Ivanov, Liaison Prosecutor at the EU Agency for Cooperation in Criminal Justice (Eurojust).
The visit program included several meetings with officials from various public authorities and professional training institutions, such as the Ministry of Justice, the Superior Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Court of Cassation, the Constitutional Court, the Police Academy and the Gendarmerie Academy.
During the meetings, which were facilitated by the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, the parties discussed topics of common interest regarding the similarities and differences of the Turkish and Moldovan legal systems, challenges and developments in the justice sector in both countries, etc. Also, each meeting offered the opportunity to better understand the structure and functioning of the respective institutions, being presented the mechanisms through which these entities carry out their activity.
