The representatives of the National Institute of Justice participate in the bilateral screening with the European Commission

Between October 15-17, 2024, in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, as part of the bilateral screening with the European Commission, the country presentations of the institutions responsible for chapter 23 "Justice and fundamental rights" will be held.

On behalf of the National Institute of Justice, Olga Marandici, adviser to the INJ Director, head of the International Relations Section, and Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate, are participating in the event. The presentation includes the functioning of the National Institute of Justice and the training process on the four dimensions: initial training, including the stage of admission to studies, continuous training, trainer training and distance training.

At the question-and-answer session, the members of the European Commission expressed their interest in the quality of the initial training of the INJ audience, the training of newly appointed judges and prosecutors, as well as the training plan for people who applied for the positions of judge or prosecutor based on seniority. Special attention was paid to the development of non-legal skills such as judgecraft, ethics and integrity, management and leadership, etc.

The bilateral screening involves a detailed analysis of the national legislation in relation to the Community acquis in order to identify the degree of conformity, the differences, as well as the necessary measures for full alignment with the European Union standards.
