Public lesson during Holocaust Remembrance Week

At the end of January, Holocaust Remembrance Week is marked, an occasion for silence and awareness of one of the most terrible tragedies of the last century. In this context, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the National Institute of Justice organized, in online format, a lesson intended for the audience of both promotions, with the aim of raising their awareness of the moral and civic responsibility that belongs to everyone in protecting human dignity and preventing any form of discrimination.

In the greeting message, the deputy director of the National Institute of Justice, Ghennadi Epure, emphasized that, for those active in the field of justice and for those who are in the process of training, this commemoration has a special meaning. At the same time, he highlighted the fact that only by knowing the historical truth, assuming responsibility and promoting the values ​​of the rule of law can the repetition of such tragedies be avoided and a culture of respect for human dignity strengthened.

The public lecture was held by Lilia Crudu, scientific researcher at the Institute of History of the State University of Moldova. Dumneaei provided a documented perspective on the tragic events that took place in the last century, including in the territory between the Prut and the Dniester. During the presentation, the repressive mechanisms of the Holocaust were analyzed, such as the institutionalization of discrimination through ghettoization, deportations, persecutions. A special emphasis was placed on the importance of education and historical memory as fundamental tools in strengthening democratic values ​​and the rule of law.

At the end of the activity, the audience watched a video report dedicated to the ghetto in Chisinau, which provided information about the living conditions, the tragic fate of the prisoners and testimonies about the inhumane experiences lived by the victims of the Holocaust.
