A new class of candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor graduated from the National Institute of Justice
The graduation ceremony of a new batch of future judges and prosecutors took place today, April 29, 2024, in the premises of the National Institute of Justice. After 18 months of studies, the 10 candidates for the position of judge and 15 candidates for the position of prosecutor received their graduation certificates. The solemn celebration, which began with the honoring of the National Anthem of the Republic of Moldova, was attended by representatives of key institutions in the legal system, members of the Graduation Commission, trainers and employees of INJ.
Addressing the young graduates, the Interim Director of the INJ, Adrian Cerbu, emphasized the commitment of the National Institute of Justice to ensure quality judicial training with an emphasis on the development of skills and competencies necessary for the chosen profession: "From simulation processes and internships, to participation in various competitions and information visits, every experience has contributed to your formation as legal professionals. Today is the beginning of a new stage in your life. You are called to become part of our judicial system, apply the knowledge gained and exercise your roles as judges and prosecutors with integrity and dedication. Through your responsibility and dedication, you will contribute to the promotion of justice, equality and respect for human rights - fundamental principles of a state that aspires to be a member of the EU family."
During the event, with congratulatory messages and professional guidance came: Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, Minister of Justice, Stela Procopciuc, Interim President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ion Munteanu, Interim Prosecutor General, Diana Rotundu, President of the INJ Council, Dumitru Obădă, President of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Sergiu Caraman, Interim President of the Superior Council of Magistrates, and Oleg Gîrbu, President of the Commission for the graduation exam. The graduates Ecaterina Soroceanu, candidate for the position of judge, and Doina-Cezara Galan, candidate for the position of prosecutor, expressed their gratitude for the transfer of knowledge and the effort made by the trainers and the INJ team in their professional training.
The celebration culminated with the handing out of graduation certificates. Ecaterina Soroceanu, candidate for the position of judge, Nelea Postu, candidate for the position of judge, and Doina-Cezara Galan, candidate for the position of prosecutor, also received diplomas with mentions of leader of the 16th promotion; diplomas of merit, in recognition of the special performances obtained during the initial training – Elena Fortuna and Constantin Cogălniceanu, candidates for the position of judge, Valentin Lungu and Sergiu Colesnic, candidates for the position of prosecutor; diplomas of merit for exceptional organizational spirit in the activity of group leader - Doina-Cezara Galan, candidate for the position of prosecutor, and Ecaterina Soroceanu, candidate for the position of judge.
Since its establishment until now, the INJ has provided the justice system with 16 graduate promotions, which included 237 candidates for the position of judge and 336 – for the position of prosecutor. The initial training at the INJ lasts 18 months and is carried out in three semesters: semester I – training of professional skills specific to the criminal investigation phase (candidates for the position of prosecutor)/training of professional skills for the examination of civil cases on the merits (candidates for the position of judge); semester II – training of prejudicial professional skills/training of professional skills for the examination of criminal cases on the merits through trial simulations on concrete categories of criminal cases; semester III – internship in the courts, prosecutor's office and criminal investigation bodies.
