The National Institute of Justice from the Republic of Moldova concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Academy of Justice from the Republic of Turkey

On Monday, June 24, 2024, in Ankara, a Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded between the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Turkey. The document represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations in the legal sector and, in particular, legal training, with the potential to benefit the parties through the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The memorandum of cooperation, signed by Adrian Cerbu, Acting Director of the National Institute of Justice, and Muhittin Özdemir, President of the Academy of Justice, establishes forms of collaboration in the segment of professional training of judges, prosecutors, hearings, judicial assistants and prosecutor consultants from both countries. The signatories assumed several commitments, including the joint organization of legal training programs, the transfer of expertise, the development of digital platforms for e-learning, the development of educational, methodological and practical materials, etc.

The conclusion of the Memorandum of Cooperation takes place in the context of the visit, from June 24-27, 2024, of the delegation of the National Institute of Justice to Ankara to participate in a specialized training course in the field of combating cybercrimes. The delegation includes Adrian Cerbu, Interim Director, Ecaterina Popa, Head of the Training and Research Directorate, Olga Marandici, Head of the International Relations Section, Ghenadie Mîra, Interim President of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, member of the INJ Council, and Mihail Ivanov, Liaison Prosecutor at the EU Agency for Cooperation in Criminal Justice (Eurojust). The training sessions aim to deepen knowledge regarding the international normative framework in the matter, analyze some current cases of cybercrime, get familiar with electronic evidence collection techniques in the investigation of crimes of this kind, etc.

Also, the INJ delegation will make working visits to the Ministry of Justice, the Superior Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Court of Cassation and the Constitutional Court in Ankara.
