How we build a strong legal system: INJ leadership urged USM master's students to choose a career as a judge or prosecutor

How applicable is the principle of meritocracy for admission to the National Institute of Justice and subsequent access to office? What are the current problems in the system, on the prepared human resource side, and what concrete solutions are there to overcome them? Why is the justice system blamed? How can one find the balance between family life and such a demanding profession? And last but not least, how can young people manage challenges at the start of their careers?

These were just some of the questions asked by the first and second year master's students to the special guests of the "Career in the judiciary and prosecutor's office - vocation, integrity and professionalism" event. The meeting, organized at the State University of Moldova and moderated by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Sergiu Băieșu, brought together the President of the country, Maia Sandu, the leadership of the National Institute of Justice, represented by director Ramona Strugariu and deputy director Ghennadi Epure, as well as retired judge Maria Ghervas. They all had a common goal: encouraging the new generation to embrace the career of judge or prosecutor.

At the opening of the event, the President of the country highlighted the importance of the involvement of young people in strengthening the rule of law, stating: "We, in order to be able to build a country where you too want to stay, where your children also want to stay, we need the rule of law. [...] For you and for the other generations that come after you, it is a real chance to build a justice system that we can be proud of."

In her message, the director of the INJ, Ramona Strugariu, spoke about the opening of the institution and the role that the new judges and prosecutors will have in society: "Moldova is in great need of a just backbone. You need a safe and just Moldova, in which to carry your dreams forward. Becoming a judge or prosecutor is the best guarantee that you can build this justice with your own hands." At the same time, you emphasized the transformations the Institute is going through to offer young people development prospects in a European framework: experience exchanges and internships abroad, access to international experts, as well as a modernized, transparent and secure admission process.

Deputy Director of INJ, Ghennadi Epure, seconded prosecutor, and retired judge, Maria Ghervas, former trainer at INJ, explained the essential difference between the theoretical training during university studies and the practical, complex training offered by the Institute. They shared their experiences and urged young people to choose this path, so as not to let others decide the future of justice.

The National Institute of Justice encourages students and master's students of law faculties to look at the magistracy and the prosecutor's office not only as an optionGetting professional, but as a real vocation in the service of the citizen. If you are ready to take on this mission, we expect you to be part of a new generation of honest and courageous professionals!

The information regarding the next admission session, required documents and stages of the competition will be published soon. Follow the official website (www.inj.md ) and our social media pages to stay up to date with the start of admissions!
