The director of the National Institute of Justice met with representatives of the Basel Institute for Governance in Switzerland

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, welcomed the representatives of the Basel Institute for Governance from Switzerland: Peter Wilson, head of program, International Center for Asset Recovery (ICAR), Lala Zinkevych, program manager, and Teodora Matei, program manager, International Center for Asset Recovery Moldova. On behalf of the Institute, Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate, also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Ramona Strugariu emphasized the usefulness of the training offered to the beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice in topical areas, such as: financial investigations, the recovery of criminal assets, the investigation of money laundering cases, with particular emphasis on the development of practical skills. At the same time, you noted the importance of evaluating the impact of these training programs, in the context of the joint organization of a workshop dedicated to international cooperation mechanisms in the segment of criminal legal assistance, which will take place next week.

The agenda of the meeting also included other topics of mutual interest. Thus, the value of the e-courses made available by the Basel Institute for practitioners from the Republic of Moldova, the possibility of their integration on the ILIAS platform of the National Institute of Justice, as well as the training of trainers to effectively deliver electronic courses, was mentioned. The possibility of offering assistance in the field of microlearning and the transfer of best practices regarding scientific activity, as well as the provision of other valuable learning resources (studies, research, guides, etc.) was also discussed.

The meeting confirmed the common concerns of the two institutions to strengthen collaboration in order to continuously improve the process of training professionals in the legal sector.
