The development of a mechanism to prevent and report cases of sexual abuse and sexual harassment, discussed at the National Institute of Justice

The acting director of the National Institute of Justice, Adrian Cerbu, and the head of the Training and Research Directorate, Ecaterina Popa, met on Thursday, October 3, 2024, with lawyer Vadim Vieru, who will facilitate the implementation of actions agreed upon by mutual agreement between the Institute and UN Women Moldova. The activities will be part of the regional project aimed at multiple aspects of gender equality - "Enhancing women's leadership for resilient and peaceful societies", implemented by UN Women Moldova and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

During the meeting, the interlocutors agreed on the first steps towards the organization of specialized training for trainers, staff and audiences of the National Institute of Justice. The training sessions will be followed by interactive workshops, the aim of which is to co-create an effective mechanism to prevent and report cases of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Training participants will be actively involved in the development process, thus ensuring that the resulting product is adapted to the specific needs identified.

Through the joint efforts of the National Institute of Justice and UN Women, the aim is not only to raise awareness of these sensitive issues, but also to develop concrete tools to address and prevent them.
