Courtesy visit to INJ: The German Ambassador, interested in the training of new generations of judges and prosecutors

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, Hubert Knirsch, visited the National Institute of Justice on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The meeting with director Ramona Strugariu and deputy director Ghennadi Epure was a good opportunity to discuss the current activity of the institution and its defining role in training new generations of professionals in the justice sector.

His Excellency showed a particular interest in the organization of the training process, wanting to know the stages that future judges and prosecutors go through, from the rigorous admission process to graduation. During the dialogue, Ramona Strugariu detailed the efforts made to modernize and make the examination procedures more transparent, as well as to strengthen a system based exclusively on meritocracy. He also emphasized the need to identify more effective mechanisms that allow for the faster integration of graduates directly into the profession, inspired by good European practices, thus reducing the long waiting periods for the occupation of positions.

At the end of the visit, the leadership of the National Institute of Justice expressed its appreciation for the constant support given to the professional development of INJ beneficiaries by the German Government, through the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ). For his part, His Excellency reaffirmed his country's openness to be with the National Institute of Justice and the Republic of Moldova in this strategic effort to consolidate a professional and integral justice system.
