Cooperation in the field of specialized training between the National Institute of Justice and the Basel Institute
On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, welcomed representatives of the Basel Institute for Governance in Switzerland - Thierry Ravalomanda, head of the Training Department at the International Center for Asset Recovery (ICAR), Peter Huppertz, head of IT and e-Learning, and David Mattan, senior specialist, Asset Recovery, based in Moldova.
The purpose of the meeting was to establish the framework for collaboration regarding the training of professionals in the field of financial investigations and asset recovery. In particular, it was discussed the organization, during one year, of five intensive courses of five days each, in the form of workshops, intended both for the beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice and for other categories of practitioners in the legal sector. These blended trainings will emphasize applied activities, case studies and mentoring sessions, integrating components of European Union law. The program provides for the subsequent identification of participants who will become trainers and ensure continuity through cascade training.
The agenda of the meeting also covered aspects related to the development of distance training, the use of artificial intelligence in professional activity, including the legal and ethical dimensions of this tool, the need to strengthen digital capabilities both for the staff and for the audiences of the National Institute of Justice.
The meeting was also attended by Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate, Octavian Bivol, head of the Continuous Training Section, and Oleg Chipric, main specialist in the e-Training Section.
