The HELP course "Protection of personal data in the context of the publication of court decisions" was launched
On Friday, August 23, 2024, via online, the distance training course "Protection of personal data in the context of the publication of court decisions" was launched. Developed by the European Program for the training of lawyers in the human domain (HELP Program), the e-course is piloted, at the national level, by the National Institute of Justice for 71 professionals from the legal sector: judges, prosecutors, prosecutors' consultants, secretaries, legal assistants, clerks, court and prosecutors' collaborators, lawyers who provide state-guaranteed legal assistance, INJ trainers, etc.
In the opening, Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate of INJ, focal point HELP, emphasized the impressive number of over 2000 beneficiaries of INJ who attended HELP courses in the last year alone. Also, you expressed the interest of the National Institute of Justice to launch new HELP training sessions, including topics relevant to the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union.
During the event, moderated by Tatiana Brumă, head of the e-Training Section of the Legal Information Center (CIJ), representatives of the Council of Europe - Oana Gîrlescu, project manager of the Justice and Human Rights Training Unit, HELP, and Octavian Sofransky, consultant at the Department of Government and Digital Development - as well as the national tutor of the HELP Program Tatiana Ciaglic, head of the CIJ, INJ trainer, reported on the recent developments of The HELP program, the international normative framework and the challenges of protecting the right to private life, the perspectives and deficiencies regarding public access to court decisions/conclusions in the Republic of Moldova, the practical aspects of implementing the e-course, etc.
The HELP course "Protection of personal data in the context of the publication of court decisions" will be active from August 23 to September 23, 2024 and is the 23rd taken over by the National Institute of Justice. The training program contains two modules that highlight, through the ECtHR jurisprudence and EU regulations, the importance of data protection in the publication of court decisions and explain what personal data is and the ways of collecting, using and protecting it through various mechanisms and tools. Completion of this course aims to achieve a number of learning objectives, including the ability to draft or review court decisions in accordance with data protection standards and knowledge of available procedural and operational remedies and how to apply them.
